Bache-Martin is proud to offer a number of different afterschool programs for our students. Information will be posted when available. Registration for the 2017-2018 school year is already open!​​
***Please remember that most of these programs do not run on early dismissal days.***

Fall 2017-2018 Enrollment is Open for:​

Bache-Martin Extended Day Program
(K - 5th Grade | Mon-Fri 3:05-5:45pm, except half days)

The Bache-Martin Elementary School Extended Day Program was founded in 1987 to provide Bache-Martin students with a quality afterschool program because their parents are employed or furthering their education. Members of the Bache-Martin staff provide supervision, guidance, and instruction in a safe, friendly and comfortable environment. Please note: The Extended Day Program does not operate on professional development days (early dismissal).

2017-2018 Session

  • Starts on September 5th, 2017.
  • Ends on June 8th, 2018.
  • Cost:
Early membership (to 4:30 pm): $900/year, divided into 10 monthly payments.
Late membership (to 5:45 pm): $1,200/year, divided into 10 monthly payments.

Please remember the payment is in the form of a Money Order, payable to Bache-Martin Extended Day, and it is due at the beginning of each month. Please write the name of all children being paid for on the money order.

Choir After School Program
(3rd-6th Grade | Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:15-4:30pm)

Through the generous support of the William Penn Foundation, we are pleased to bring Settlement Music School’s Music Education Pathways program to Bache‐Martin. Now in its 5th year, this 23‐week, intensive program will focus on teaching students how to grow and develop as musicians, learn leadership skills and self‐discipline, and collaborate with their peers in a creative environment. 

At Settlement, we strive for nothing less than the best and are excited to have your child participate in this extraordinary program!

Dance After School at Sound Space Dance Studio
(K-5th | Your choice of 1 to 5 days a week, 3-6pm)


Dance, think, move, read, chill! Our new after-school dance and movement program happens daily from 3-6 pm, along with plenty of time for games, homework, reading and a snack break.


The program is led by dance educators with decades of elementary age teaching experience. Children will be picked up from Bache-Martin and walked to the studio (0.5 mile walk). No dance experience required!

Dream Camp
(1st-6th grade | Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00-5:30pm)

​Dream Camp is a year-round program that offers academic enrichment and personal development for students. Students are teamed up with mentors who focus on academic and non-academic skills (i.e. character and leadership development).

Students receive homework help, tutoring, and enrichment activities.

THIS PROGRAM IS FREE –  students must meet income qualifications.

First Lego League
(4th-8th grade | Mondays and Wednesdays 3:15-4:30pm)

On your mark, get set, flow! Drink in the 2017/2018 HYDRO DYNAMICSSM season and learn all about water – how we find, transport, use, or dispose of it.

In the 2017/18 FIRST® LEGO®League Challenge, two teams of students will make a splash with HYDRO DYNAMICS. What might become possible when we understand what happens to our water?

FLOW Academy 
(6th - 8th Grade | 3:15-4:45pm Thursdays)

FLOW Academy (Future Leaders of the World) presents a 6-week African dance after-school program at Bache Martin School for middle school students grade 6 through 8.

Students will be emerged in a variety of traditional and contemporary dance styles and world music from the African Diaspora. Classes are developed from a thematic learning model based on the school themes, current events and cultural
and neighborhood pride. Cost: One six-week session $50.00.​

Girls on the Run 
(3rd - 5th Grade | 3:15-4:45pm Mondays and Wednesdays)

Girls on the Run is returning to Bache Martin!  The 10-week season will begin on Monday, September 18th and run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4:45.   

The program is open to girls in third through fifth grade.  At each practice, girls participate in interactive running games while learning skills that promote social-emotional well-being. 

The season will conclude with a 5K race on December 2nd, 2017. 

Fall 2017 Session

  • Starts on Monday, September 18th.
  • Duration: 10 weeks

Mi Casita Spanish Immersion Workshop
(K - 2nd Grade | Mondays OR Wednesdays 3-4pm)

Mi Casita is excited to offer an afterschool Spanish workshop to teach your child the Spanish language.

Students will explore language and culture. They will participate in fun activities and experience FULL SPANISH IMMERSION, which promotes natural language acquisition.
Philadelphia City Rowing
(7th & 8th Grades | Monday & Wednesday 4:14-6:15pm, Saturday 12am-2pm)

Bache-Martin 7th and 8th grade students are invited sign-up for this FREE 8-week introduction to rowing program this fall starting September 25th through November 11th.

Participants will learn how to work as a team, how to eat healthy, the principles of rowing, and for those who do not know how to swim, learn how to swim.  Program runs Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.

Philly Art Center After School Program
(K - 6th Grade | Your choice of 1 to 5 days a week, 3-6pm)


Philly Art Center's After School Art Program in Fairmount starts the very first day of school with pick-up from Bache Martin, a full art class, creative play + snack (provided).

Kids explore drawing, painting, printing, pottery and more! Curriculum is always age appropriate, super engaging and lead by outstanding artist educators who love working with your kids! Choose 1- 5 days, pick up is by 6pm.

Philly Tutors Gaming Club 
(K -8th Grade | Friday 3:00-4:15pm)

Philly Tutors Gaming Club uses modern board and card games to teach students numerous academic and life skills!  The games are mostly “Eurogames,” which are tabletop games that stress player interaction, emphasize strategy, downplay luck and conflict, lean towards economic rather than military themes, and usually keep all the players in the game until it ends. 

Some of these games are cooperative, meaning the students are playing together against the game rather than each other.  This allows students of different ages and skill levels to play together as a team, building communication and group strategizing.

Soccer Shots at Bache-Martin
(K - 3rd Grade | 3:09 -4pm Tuesdays)

Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development. We positively impact children’s lives on and off the field through our best-in-class coaching, communication and curriculum.

We are excited to be returning to Bache-Martin for the fall 2017 season on Tuesdays after school! The classes will take place on the Brown Street Lawn (by Penitentiary Park)

Snapology Robotics 
(1st - 3rd Grade -- Mondays 3:15-4:15pm)
The Fall 2017 session of Snapology is now full! 

Snapology is pleased to offer Creature Creator Robotics this fall!

In Snapology's Creature Creator Robotics class, your animal lover will create their own animal
inspired robotic models. Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, simple machines, and
programming as they build insects, dolphins, gorillas, and much more. Your child is sure to have
a wild time as they build, learn, and play.


Enrollment will open August 25th, at 8am to NEW STUDENTS ONLY, until August 31st! Enrollment for previously enrolled students, will open on September 1st. 1st - 3rd graders, no Kindergarteners please!

Spring Program

Young Rembrandts
(K - 5th Grade | Wednesdays 3:05-4:05pm)

Back to school is in full swing as we present a bountiful selection of drawings that introduces our students to a fascinating world of color, pattern, and design. We say farewell to summer in our detailed still life drawing of a beach. We explore color usage and composition in our silly monster and fire truck drawings. In keeping with the season, our stylized fall leaves drawing challenges our technique and color scheme. Our students will learn cultural themes as they draw and color Kawaii inspired art. All this and more awaits your child in a Young Rembrandts classroom!

YOUNG REMBRANDTS provides all classroom supplies, and a trained instructor. Classes are held immediately after school on Wednesdays, from 3:05 to 4:05pm. Parents are responsible for transportation at class end.

FAST - Families and Schools Together
(K - 2nd grade | Tuesdays 3:30-6:00pm)

FAST is a family program held after school; it gives parents the chance to spend special time with their children, and meet members of the school community. At each meeting your family will receive a free meal, family fun activities, and a chance to win a weekly prize.

The goal of the FAST program is to strengthen families by using available resources to promote parent nurturing, improved relationships and increased children’s success in school. 

Spring Program

  • Starts on March 14, 2017 and goes through May 9th

Heart & Sole
(6th - 8th Grade | 3:15-4:45pm Mondays and Wednesdays)​​

Heart & Sole is coming to Bache-Martin! Heart & Sole a national not-for- profit after school program for girls in 6th through 8th grade, which combines training for a 5K with an interactive curriculum to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles.

Over a 10-week season, Heart & Sole trained volunteer coaches deliver a curriculum that teaches life skills through group processing, running games, and workouts. 
The 10-week season will begin on Monday, September 18th and run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4:45.   

The season will conclude with a 5K race on December 2nd, 2017. 


Fall 2017 Session


UPDATE: The Heart and Sole program has been cancelled for the fall 2017 session, due to low enrollment. Please look forward to this program to return in the future. 

Give and Go Afterschool Basketball Program
(3rd- 8th Grade | Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays, 3:15-5pm)

Give and Go Athletics is a non-profit in Philadelphia, offering year-round programming to help build self-esteem and empowerment through athletic and artistic expression. 

The Bache-Martin Afterschool Basketball Program runs from January 9th to April 6th 2017, three days a week after school on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:15 – 5:00pm. Participating students will receive basketball instruction, form a team, play games, and at the end of the program, perform in a mini-tournament.

Cost of this program is $150, with limited financial aid available (if you need financial aid, please complete the Scholarship form included in the application). Give and Go will determine the scholarship amount available for each student.

​To apply, please  download, and complete the program application (including financial aid request form if applicable), and the release form included. Applications are due on December 23, 2016; if you are selected to participate, payment of the fee wil be due by the first day of the program on January 9th. Drama Club 
(3rd - 8th Grade | Thursdays, 3:00-4:30pm)

As a part of the Walnut Street Theatre Adopt-a-School Program, an afterschool drama club is available to 3rd to 8th grade students to provide them with a creative outlet.

The club will focus on acting, singing, and dance with a culminating community performance at the end of the year.  For students to be eligible to participate, a completed and signed permission slip and an essay are required.

Y-Achievers
(5th-8th Grades -- Thursdays 3-4:30pm)

The Y Achievers program is a career exploration/college prep program for grades 5th-8th at Bache Martin. This year, the program will focus on career exploration by teaching interview skills, financial literacy workshops, guest speakers and much much more!

Y Achievers is designed to help students realize their full potential. The program provides the necessary tools required to become successful in attaining goals, pursuing collegiate dreams and beyond. Benefits of participating in the Y Achievers program include:

  • Access to college scholarships
  • Relationship building and networking opportunities
  • Connection to service learning projects

Spark Program
(7th Grade - Fridays 1-4pm)

Spark is a nonprofit organization that engages seventh and eighth grade students, keeping them on track and ready for success in high school and beyond through workplace-based apprenticeships that uniquely combine mentoring, project-based learning, skill building and career exploration.  

Whether your child is interested in learning how to design a house, fly a plane, become a veterinarian or pursue any other profession, Spark will connect him or her with a hands-on, engaging and inspiring apprenticeship.

Yoga for Kids by YogaHabit
(2nd - 8th Grade | Wednesdays, 3:15-4:00pm)

​Join Yoga Habit for a class designed to help you grow physically and emotionally strong. We’ll move through challenging but fun yoga poses that will build your inner and outer strength and help you get more flexible.
