Villanova Day of Service : Thank you!!

Thank you St Thomas of Villanova Day of Service volunteers!

Thanks to the volunteers from the
Villanova Women's Basketball team , their friends, families, a group of Bache-Martin parents, faculty, staff, and neighbors, we were able to tackle a long list of to-dos in both buildings!

Our front garden, and our science garden look amazing, hundreds of books were entered into the library system, new library furniture was put together, and multiple classrooms and closets were cleaned, and organized!

From all the parents, faculty, and students: THANK YOU! Our school looks amazing because of you!

The School Store is Open!
The PBIS School Store was mobile for the first time on Friday and students who earned Tiger Tickets all week got to cash them in for cool stuff on the store's shelves.

Ms. Stone, School Climate and Support Specialist, and manager of the store says, "It's a pleasure to give students incentives for showing their Tiger Pride: Being Responsible, Being Respectful and Being Safe.

If you have suggestions for school store inventory or are willing to purchase or donate items that Bache-Martin kids will love,  email Ms. Stone.

School Nurse's Corner
There's a new page on the Power of Bache-Martin website!

Does your Tiger need to take medicine during the day? What about a health/dental checkup form?

Then head over to the School Nurse's Corner for useful notices, resources, and reminders from Nurse Little and Nurse Hall.

And don't forget: Wills Eye will be at Bache-Martin on Sept. 24 for required vision testing (for grades 2-5). Remember to return the form that Nurse Little sent with your student last week!

Middle School Moment!
Fifth grade students in Rooms 8 and 9 began the new year with a focus on positive behaviors -- and fun!

Student groups built spaghetti towers and focused on not only who could build the tallest tower but which group could show the most positive behaviors -- being respectful, kind, and safe -- during the challenge.

Our number one group in both classes is pictured here. They built a tower using 30 spaghetti noodles and 30 marshmallows that measures 23" tall.

Congratulations to the winning team and all of the participants!

Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year!
Here are some pictures of our first day of school, where we not only #RangTheBellPHL, we also welcomed our Kindergarten class of 2018-2019, and we marched with the Positive Movement Drill Team!!!

It was so wonderful to see all of our students and their families back at the school today.  Thank you to the wonderful staff, teachers, and parent volunteers who helped the first day of school go so smoothly. Thank you to Positive Movement Entertainment for bringing so much fun and energy with their fantastic drum beats, and to High Point Cafe for providing coffee for our Kindergarden Parent Welcome breakfast (and to the parents that brought baked goods for it as well!)!

On behalf of Mr. V, Dr. Merritt, and all of the Bache-Martin faculty and staff, thank you to all of the volunteers who helped the teachers set up classrooms for the start of the new school year.

We're so thankful for the extra hands to get the year off to a smooth start!

School Supply Lists
There are less than 4 weeks until the start of the school year...is your Tiger ready?

We are working with our faculty (yes, even during their vacation) to get school supply lists ready for you ahead of school, so you can take advantage of all of those Back-to-School Sales!

Head over to our Supply Lists page (under the Parents tab), and check if we have yours yet...and don't worry if you don't see it, we will continue to upload them as we get them!
We need YOU as a coach for GOTR!
Are you interested in inspiring young girls? We need YOU as a coach for GOTR at Bache-Martin!

Girls on the Run Philadelphia is a program that believes that every girl can embrace who she is, can define who she wants to be, can rise to any challenge, can change the world.

In working directly with a team of 3rd-5th grade girls or 6th-8th grade girls, coaches teach them healthy lifestyle lessons while training them for the culminating Girls on the Run 5K. So finding great and reliable coaches is essential!
Coaches do NOT need to be runners. Anyone who is passionate about girl empowerment and wellness will make a great coach. And yes, men can coach too!

If you think you would like to inspire a young girl, sign up now!

For more details about becoming a coach, visit the GOTR websiteor contact Carrie Peck
Garden Committee - We need volunteers!
Come and help us spruce up the front garden of the Martin building through the summer!

This gardening group will meet every two weeks this summer and fall;  join us whenever you can, as long as you can!

Please invite anyone that would be interested in making our school look beautiful for all of our neighborhood to enjoy (Neighbors, parents, friends, and students as well)!

Because this gardening event is held outside school hours, volunteers will not need clearances. And please let us know if other dates would work, as we could create additional signups for those days!

You bring the questions, we bring the coffee.

VOLUNTEERING

We are always looking for volunteers! We have a lot of opportunities for you to choose from; like the front desk,  or the upcoming Bache in Bloom fundraiser! To see all the opportunities, click here.

Come and learn how you can make a difference; how you can help our students, and our school!

Boxtops Contest!

Help your child's classroom win the
Box Tops Collection Competition by clipping and submitting.

Last school year, we earned $416.20 for our school from Box Tops and used the money for classroom supplies. This school year, our goal is to earn $1,000+!!

Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to help earn cash for our school. Each one is worth 10¢ for our school! Even just one Box Top helps, so please collect them, and send them in the Box Tops bag that came home with your student in the fall.

Don't forget, if you get your neighbors, family, and friends to help you collect you can really help your class win more prizes, and, in turn, help raise more money for Bache-Martin.  Contact Nicole, for more information
Front Desk Volunteers Needed

We are looking for volunteers to take shifts in at least 1 hour increments to sit at the front desk, make sure people sign in, and direct them to the main office. The most important shift to cover first is 11am-1pm, though other times of the day will be needed as well.

Info on obtaining the school clearances can be found on the
Clearances page . These will need to be submitted to the school secretary, Ms. Sue, before volunteering can begin.

Please contact
Anna , or sign up right here ....and let your friends, and neighbors know about this opportunity!

Access Your Student's Information On-Line!

Parents/guardians can access their student(s) classroom assignments and other information via the SDP website.  You will need your student's SDP-assigned 7-digit ID number (this number can be found on your student's report card).

Go to The Philadelphia School District's Website , and follow the Parents link, or go to the School District's Family Portal.  Log-in, or create an account if you don't have one.

You will need to link your student's account to yours. Click on "My Students" and follow the instructions. Once the SDP links your students to your account (24-72 hours), you will then be able to click on "Family Net" and access all sorts of goodies on your student.

For detailed step-by-step instructions, please click here .  If you need to troubleshoot the process, please call 215-400-4000 for assistance.
