The Home and School Association


​To support the goals and objectives of Bache-Martin and champion efforts that enrich the educational environment of our children through collaboration of faculty, administration, parents and community partnerships.

  • Serve as a communication source for families of Bache-Martin students.
  • Help build an environment where parents, children, and teachers are comfortable sharing and learning together.
  • Provide opportunities for all to get involved.
  • Support school programs and initiatives through fundraising, grant writing, and community partnerships.


Please join us for our Home & School Association Meetings! Meet other parents; learn about school programs, community events, and much more. Staff, and Community, are encouraged to attend! Children are welcome.

Meet the 2018-2020 Home and School Association Board ​​


Tara's daughter Abby is a 3rd grader and twin sons Tim and Miles are kindergartners. Tara is a cookbook author, food writer, and culinary educator for Vetri Community Partnerships. She teaches cooking and nutrition to kids throughout Philadelphia's schools, and to UPenn medical students. at She and her husband Topher have lived in the neighborhood for ten years. Tara is originally from New York's Hudson Valley, but she graduated from Villanova University in 1998 and stuck around. She also has a culinary degree from Philadelphia's The Restaurant School.

Angélica (Angie) is the mother of twins in third grade. She enjoys volunteering in the science garden, during the bake sales, and with the Friends of Bache-Martin. She has managed the HSA website and the HSA Facebook page since 2016.
She is a scientist, with a degree from the University of California, San Diego, and currently works in gene therapy. In her free time, she likes to bake, sew, read, tend to her community garden plot, and is starting to teach her girls how to knit.
She is fluent in Spanish having grown up in Mexico and California, so she has translated parts of the website for our ESOL parents. Si necesitan ayuda, aqui estoy!
